Detoxing ups and downs

It’s been a few days since I last updated and a lot has happened.

Last week I moved from the beach resort to the village resort. It’s really quiet and peaceful up here. The villas are more spread out with lush tropical surrounds. On Day 5 of my detox (Thursday) I started feeling like I was coming down with the flu. This is a common side effect from detoxing. All the toxins are being flushed from the system and mimic the flu. So I was feeling achy and sore, bad headaches, sweats. Really not pleasant stuff.

I kept up with the detox routine till finishing my 7 days yesterday (Saturday). The flu like symptoms have all but gone but I have an awful taste in my mouth and everything I try to eat tastes terrible. I don’t feel hungry which is good but I’d love to get my taste back to normal.

I feel really lethargic and sluggish today yet not tired. I check out of here tomorrow and move to the Muang Kulaypan Hotel in Chaweng beach for 5 days before flying back to Bangkok for a few extra days then back to Melbourne.

Some good news though: I’ve lost 5 kgs so far which is amazing. That is probably due to not eating! Although I am still taking the nutrient capsules. That helps while I don’t eat.

I do feel crappy today. I was hoping to feel better than when I started but I guess I’m still cleansing. It’s been good but I also have some major complaints which I’ll express in a separate post.

  • Hope you’re feeling a bit better today sweetheart! By the way, I LOVE this photo of you – TOTALLY gorgeous xx

  • Losing 5 kgs is a good thing, so congrats to that. You did this detoxing in November Elahn, how did you feel after the detox was finished?

  • Hi Shannon, thank you for your comment. I got dengue fever while I was doing the detox so I did not feel great at all! I’m due for another ferocity in a few weeks. This time from home. Any suggestions?

  • Dengue fever is not good. Maybe try a short detox like for 3 days or so with just water and raw foods only. Just fruit and veggies, but do not eat the citrus fruits. See how a shorter detox goes. You shouldn’t get dengue fever on home soil (less likely anyway), so things should go smoothly next time.

  • Hey Shannon, just finished a 7 day detox. It’s one of those over the counter ones you get from the pharmacy. You take tablets at breakfast and dinner that are for the Stomach, Bowels and Liver. I cut out coffee, sugar, chocolate, alcohol, meat and any other junk food.
I bought a good juicer and started each day with a juice of carrot, celery, beetroot, apple and ginger. I didn’t get any cravings but I did get daily headaches that throbbed in my temples and had my neck feeling tight. Each night I cooked a stir fry of fresh veggies and some fish. Lunches were either salads or a healthy sandwich.
Overall I feel somewhat better. Will keep the healthy eating up and refrain from meat and alcohol as much as I can.
