Haifa roadtrip part 1.
Friday 17th May. After lunch with Etty and Guy I meet Leon Peters and friend Miles for road trip to the north of Israel. It’s good to finally get out of Tel Aviv again and see some other parts of the country.
Miles drives while Leon smirks.
Along the way I contemplate life and realise that the world is split in two parts, those that rule and the rest that are ruled. I must confess it sounds confusing at first but it all makes sense when we drive past a petstore.
The ruling free (pigeons) and the ruled slaves (caged canaries).
We take a detour into Netanya and find a surf shop so Miles can purchase a new body board.
The shop owner finds a matching bikini top for Miles.
Enjoying the fresh air and open road Leon plays a shuffled assortment on his ipod. After a little while we pull in to Ceasarea to do some body board surfing.

For the history of the area, click here.
We took to the average surf and spent a few hours riding the waves. The current was quite strong and I must remember to keep my eyes open and my mouth shut, not the other way round.
The Ceasarea beach lifeguard hut. Due for completion 2010.
Leon dons a wetsuit to keep his chest hairs from getting wet.
Leon takes on a whopping 30 foot wave. No chest hairs were harmed.
Leon gets dumped by forementioned wave. Takes a photo while avoiding coral reefs, rocks, stones etc.
Leon recovers from wave only to meet first waves ugly older sister, Doris.
Leon introduces Doris to Miles as he is already seeing someone.
Doris’ father Kevin sizes up Miles, almost drowning him in the process.
My turn to meet Doris and her siblings, Boris, Morris and Sharon.
That’s pure fear on my face, don’t be fooled. That is a paralizing 3 foot wave coming up behind me.
Happy to be back on solid ground and having a shower.
Hitting the road we continue north, saying goodbye to Ceasarea and it’s butch waves.
