Eilat of tourists.

Monday 5th May. Arriving in Eilat at around 7am and having no clue as to where I was going to stay I ventured towards the large hotels by the waterside. Inquiring of a few the price of a room and flinching at the price of around $150-$200 per night I took a taxi towards the hostel area. Finding a decently priced hostel ($30-$40 per night) and getting a room to myself I unloaded and crashed on the bed, having a shloof till early afternoon.

Eager to explore I headed down to the beach once I awoke.

It’s not very busy here, a scattering of locals and tourists, mostly Russians and Frenchies. I find a nice open air bar/restaurant and get myself some late lunch and a beer. In the same head turn I can see Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel and the hills of Egypt. After lunch I head down to the water, keen for a dip and snorkel. It’s late and I only get about half and hour of exploring some murky coral.

P5050871Even on the beach in Eilat there is WiFi. Jordan in the background.

That evening I went for a quick dinner with another guest of the hostel and went to bed so I could get up early the next morning for my trip to Petra in Jordan.
