What is it????

Passing a pet store last night I stopped suddenly to see this creature. At first I thought it was a rabbit, but then thought it could be a giant mouse. If anyone knows what this is please tell me! They sell them as pets. I assume it’s some sort of rock marsupial. It’s about the same size as a medium sized rabbit. Cute or scary?

It looks to me like a chinchilla, btw, though what the hell it’s doing in Israel is beyond me… since they’re South American.
