Late night shenanigans part 1

A lot to catch up on here folks so stay with me. I haven’t been able to get on the computer here as Erez, Cocka’s son was using it to study. How selfish! This is Erez. Don’t argue with him -

Going back to Thursday I finally caught up with Justine Peleg. She has been living in Tel Aviv for the last few months having moved over here from Melbourne. Unfortunately my camera batteries were flat and no photos were taken.

This is Justine though, taken from her facebook photo library -

I met Justine out early, at 10pm and went with her and a friend of hers to a local cafe for a quick bite and to watch Tel Aviv Macabbi play Barcelona in the basketball. Macabbi won and has now moved into the final 4. It’s huge here and loved as much as AFL (Vic), Rugby League (QLD), or gloryholes (NSW).

After the game we proceeded to a local bar/club where young, trendy, good looking Israeli’s and me stood around drinking and dancing. Although smoking is banned in all indoor areas it hasn’t stopped smokers from lighting up, giving the finger to authority and stubbing the butt out in the eye of anyone (read, foreign tourist) who asks them to put it out. Lesson learned.

As it was a Thursday night and most people don’t work on Fridays, the streets of Tel Aviv were full of cafe/restaurant/club patrons behaving very well. the drunken, violent aspect we see in Australia was absent. Was I looking in the right place for a fight? As I later found out, people are less likely to cause problems via excessive drinking and/or violence and focus on having a good time and talking about how much they hate the arabs.

Calling it a night early in the evening, only at 2am, I walked back home and went to bed.
