Catching up with Francene
Tuesday 29th April. The swim at the Dead Sea was amazing, and once it became too busy I packed up and headed to the road to await the bus to Jerusalem.
The bus was full and the smell of bad salami filled the bus which made me feel ill. Trying my best to breathe through my mouth and not think about rancid meat the 1 and a half hour trip back to the capital took the route up the coastline of the Dead Sea, around the West Bank, through Jericho and back down to Jerusalem. I don’t know why we just couldn’t drive in a straight line. Probably that thing with the rocks, bullets, screaming arabs etc.
Me trying not to vomit.
Getting to Jerusalem I caught up with Francene Norton and her friend Rowena from Brisbane. Francene works at the ABC in Brisbane and has been traveling with her friend in Egypt, Syria, Jordan and Israel. I took them to the bar we went to last week for a few beers and a nagilla.
Francene.
After getting dinner with them and braving the snap cold weather in Jerusalem I headed back to Tel Aviv, along with a stomach bug which has left me in bed today (Wednesday 30th). Francene has the same one given to her in Egypt by a nice camel boy.
